Chester County, Tennessee values education and innovative training for its workforce. The highly ranked Chester County School System and other area education systems, including technology schools and Freed-Hardeman University, collaborate with industry leaders to develop programs to educate the future workforce in needed skills. Area TCATs partner with the high school to offer coding, machining technology, and web design programs. Freed-Hardeman University, located in the heart of Henderson, offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees, with strong programs in technology, biological sciences and finance. Another six area higher education institutions provide additional opportunities for continuing education. Through all these efforts, Chester County seeks to create a trained workforce pipeline and a strong partnership between education and businesses. Tennessee's innovative workforce partnerships and education reform are developing qualified candidates for skills in high demand. Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through Tennessee Promise and TN Reconnect. The Chester County School System is rated one of the best in the state, where the high school graduation rate is almost 94 percent, and the college-going rate is above state averages. Some area colleges offer dual enrollment, so students can begin pursuing higher education before they have even finished high school.
Postsecondary options include Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Jackson State Community College, Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Crump, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Jackson, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Whiteville and Union University.
